Parker-Hannifin Addition
North Haven, CT
Client: Parker-Hannifin
This project involved civil, structural, and MEP + fire protection design for an addition to Parker-Hannifin’s existing plating facility to support manufacturing expansion. CENTEK’s team provided a full range of engineering services, from site survey and coordination with town officials to design and documentation of the new addition. The design integrated new building systems with existing operations, addressing structural, electrical, plumbing, and process-related requirements while ensuring code compliance and operational efficiency. A key challenge was waterproofing the concrete slab to prevent leakage and protect against caustic chemical exposure within the facility. This project won 1st Place for Industrial category at 2024 Exellence in Construction Awards by ABC Connecticut, and a Merit Award for Industrial category at 2025 Connecticut Building Congress Team Awards.

YU – 470 Congress Avenue EHS Facility
New Haven, CT
Client: Yale University
This project involved MEP and fire protection design for the conversion of a 13,300 SF warehouse into a bio-hazardous medical waste processing facility for Yale University’s Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) department. The scope included new HVAC systems meeting strict EH&S air change and pressurization standards, upgraded power distribution, LED lighting with controls, and dedicated electrical service for specialized sterilization and shredding equipment. Plumbing design incorporated new water and drainage systems, emergency fixtures, and an oil-water separator at the loading dock. Fire protection systems were modified to meet NFPA requirements and new hazard classifications. CENTEK worked closely with Yale EHS, the design team, and equipment vendors to ensure a fully code-compliant, functional, and safe facility tailored to complex operational and regulatory demands.
